Employee Retention

  • Average employee annual raises are between 3% - 6% compared ​to employees getting 10% - 20% more in salary IF they leave for a new job elsewhere

  • The average employee exit costs 33% of their annual salary - Replacing employees costs a lot of money. A company must spend significant time and money to search for the best talent through advertising, recruitment agencies, screening, interviewing, and hiring. In other words, when an employee leaves, you haven’t just lost talent or time. You’ve lost valuable funding for your company.

  • Companies that support remote work have 25% lower employee turnover than companies that don't

  • Professional growth is a priority - 93% of employees would stay at a company longer if it invested in their careers

 

Diversity in the Workplace

  • 57% of employees say they believe their companies should improve diversity among the internal workforces. 1

  • Nearly one fourth of employees (24%) shared they have experienced discrimination at their current place of work. 2

  • A study found 40% of employees surveyed indicated that unfairness or mistreatment (harassment, bullying, or stereotyping) played a major role in their decision to quit their job and seek alternative employment opportunities. 3

 

Millennials

  • Millennials in 2019 made up 50% of the Labor Force in the U.S. By 2025, it is projected that the number will be 75%. ​

  • 67% of Millennial job seekers weigh diversity as a factor before evaluating companies and job offers.

  • 83% of millennials are engaged when their organization has a diverse work culture; and that drops to 60% without workplace diversity

 

Fortune 500

  • As of August 2021, there are 3 Black, 10 Asian, 10 Latino, and 3 "other" CEOs running these leading companies. This means only 5% of people of color are the faces of these powerful organizations. There are also more White Male CEOs with the name John and David compared to the total number of women CEOs in Fortune 500 (50 vs 37).

Policing

  • In Ferguson, Missouri the city population is 21,000 residents. Of those residents, 16,000 have arrest warrants on their record. And 96% of those arrested are Black. 4

  • In the U.S. roughly 900-1000 people are shot and killed by the police every year. Since 2005, 98 nonfederal law enforcement officers have been arrested in connection with fatal, on-duty shootings, according to the Police Integrity Research Group’s data. To date, only 35 of these officers have been convicted of a crime, often a lesser offense such as manslaughter or negligent homicide, rather than murder 5

  • In 2015, the Police Executive Research Forum shared that incoming officers must take 8 hours of de-escalation training. Compared to the required 129 hours of weapons and fighting training.
